Hi, I'm Erika!
chillest photographer ever 😎
I’m a wedding + family photographer born, raised, and living in the suburbs of New Jersey, but at my absolute happiest when I’m in a cabin in the woods somewhere. My husband and I built our relationship on road trips and weekend getaways to New York state, eventually getting engaged and also married in New York.. so, basically, I *HEART* NY. We now have three little (very silly) kids, who we’re totally obsessed with and think are the best humans ever, though we’re probably a little biased. I’m so lucky.
My photography is relaxed, fun, and happy and I 100% believe that’s how a couple should be on their wedding day. My documentary shooting style and true-to-color editing style create images that show what your wedding day really looked like - a lot of smiles, a lot of happiness. The way I see it - make it official, take some awesome pictures, then celebrate accordingly. I’ve been doing this for over 10 years and will never get tired of documenting each and every way couples decide to marry - you do you, I'm here for it!
Erika Koop Photography, LLC was officially established in 2014 after I began photographing weddings in 2012. From 2008-2015, I worked in NYC as an event photographer and photo editor at the World Trade Center with Silverstein Properties. I graduated with honors from Muhlenberg College in 2008 after double majoring in studio art and anthropology.
We're list makers and organized, we want to be true to ourselves in photos, family and friends are so important, we like to keep things simple, we're more introverted, good food is a priority, and we love spending time outdoors.
I'm tall, 5'11"! My height comes in super handy at weddings, especially if my couple is tall as well!
I've always been an athlete. I played soccer, basketball, ran track, and swam through high school. In college I was on the track team and competed in a bunch of events, but high jump was always my favorite. I also took horseback riding lessons for about 10 years, but I recently began skiing and it's definitely my new favorite sport. (Farm weddings and mountain weddings, yes please!)
FOOD. There are very few foods I don't like and always down to try something new. Exploring local restaurants while traveling is always a must, especially if there's good seafood! My husband and I had an extended cocktail hour at our wedding, because that's always our favorite part when we're guests... appetizers while catching up with friends!
I also have a major sweet tooth, chocolate chip cookies and cookie dough ice cream will forever and always be my favorite desserts.. so if you choose to work with me, you can definitely expect to receive some cookies along the way!
In my free time, spending quality time with my family is my #1 priority! You can usually find us somewhere outdoors.. relaxing in our backyard, getaways to upstate NY, day-trips around the Hudson Valley, exploring farmers markets, state fairs or parks, wherever we can wander around with the kids and have some fun!
A few of my other favorite things are reading, watching TV & movies, swimming, baking, drawing, date nights with my husband, and snuggling the kiddos.
